Noun
A phrase in an old celtic dialect meaning meaning “proof of strength” or “great strength.” To be Kibbo Kift is to embody and possess an exceptional level of mastery, resilience, and spiritual insight. It is not just the ability to perform tasks like starting fires and carving wood, but to do so with a very real and very deep understanding of and connection to the natural world.
Kibbo Kift Scouts International in the UK
Our Story
The Kibbo Kift are a woodcraft scouting organisation, created by John Hargrave around 100 years ago, with inspiration from Baden-Powell, E.T Seton, German Scouting, and a whole lot more. After an 80-or-so year long “sleep”, the Kindred was fully awoken in South America in 2020, the 100 year anniversary of the Kin with the formation of Kibbo Kift Scouts International (emblem on the left).
In 2024, the Kindred came back to the shores that it came from, operating a digital lone-scout program that hopes to evolve into a full-scale organisation with groups for all ages.
Kibbo Kift Scouts International takes firm stances in their educational method to ensure every participant is allowed to learn in freedom and have a tailored curriculum to fit their strengths and weaknesses as individuals.
We also stand in opposition to any philosophy, politics or action that restricts freedom (fascism, etc)
All of nature begins to whisper its secrets to us through its sounds. Sounds that were previously incomprehensible to our soul now become the meaningful language of nature.

What We Do
Kibbo Kift Scouting UK delivers woodcraft to the masses! We currently have no group leaders (but we would be open to having groups) so all material is delivered lone scout style via courses on the website. Visit the “join” page to read more about how we deliver our stuff.
Community
We are a thriving community of Woodcrafters, beginners and advanced. Joining the community is 100% free and straightforward.
Woodcraft Focus
We focus on teaching skills that have mostly been lost to most people today. A full curriculum of woodcraft and adjacent topics is available for all who are willing and able.
Learning
We currently operate a series of courses on the KKUK platform for free, for everyone. (Though proper in-person groups are the goal) We unfortunately currently don’t offer physical badges (yet!).
